Links, types, labels, images, markers, trees, calendar entries are all drawn from plain text. Secrets wrap around them all. Everyone writes, and everyone colludes in custom groups. Nothing hidden leaves a shape. And every change is kept to make it easy to follow what's been going on.
Write something, save it, and the table reads what it is cleared for.
Write in Markdown, online or off. A type, an alias, a secret or a map pin is one line of HTML comment in the text, which any editor leaves alone.
On save, GMTales parses the text and derives everything: links to every name it recognises, pins on the maps, rows on the calendar and images in the gallery. Each earmarked to the audience of the secret paragraph it was written in.
Each member gets the version they are cleared for, with their own unread marks and a day-by-day feed. Older versions sits beside the current one, allowing easy comparison.
The prose is the only source. Everything else is drawn from it.
Mark a passage for the members who should have it. Every link, pin, image and date written inside it goes quiet with it, and readers outside see the paragraphs around it joined. The calendar shows no gap where a hidden event would be.
Players write articles under the same rules as the game master. Nobody can edit or delete another person's writing, whatever their role, and a passage players keep to themselves is kept from the game master too. Every article carries its author, so nobody has to ask whose version is canon.
Every published change is kept, at the author's discretion. Set any older version beside the current one for highlighted changes. The log shows each reader only the changes they are cleared to read.
Every article is a Markdown file. Write offline in the editor you already use, sync the folder back, and take the whole campaign out again as files. Nothing you write is locked in the app.
Names become links on save, and a shared filter works across a list, an index, a tree, a graph, a map and a timeline. Highlighted unread changes and a curated daily feed aid in finding changes. Nothing a member cannot open reaches them.
Each step makes one claim and hands you the reader switch that tests it. The left pane is a real editor, and the wiki on the right is rebuilt from it as you type.
<!-- type: artifact --> <!-- labels: Band, Cursed --> # The Ashen Band The master Band of Power. A great portion of the Ash King's own will is bound into it. <!-- start: secret; gm --> The Band has no personality, only a purpose: return to its maker. <!-- end: secret -->
